What is Renaissance Music

Renaissance music can be defined as music either composed during the European renaissance (1400 to 1600), or music created in the style of this era. This type of music will have been composed in Italy, Greece, Asia as well as France and Britain and may be inspired by the artistic and literary heritage of ancient Greece or Rome. Instruments used may include: lute, harpsichord, lyre, cornett, sackbut, tabor and tambourine, flute, whistle as well as vocal and choir.
